I finished reviewing the first Physics section (Kinematics) for BR. Then I *attempted* to do the first passage, but found it to be reeeally difficult. 😱 Was anyone else able to solve their passages or do you normally rely on their solutions at the end to gain understanding of how to do them. I'm not sure if it's just me and my poor understanding of the material, or the passages themselves.

I'm almost worried that not being able to solve these problems will reflect my performance on the MCAT. I guess we'll see if I improve over the next 2 weeks. 😴

I'd say they're harder than the AAMC practice tests, but roughly on par with the real thing. Don't sweat it yet. Just keep practicing - if you feel the same way in 2-3 weeks, you should be able to better analyze where you're having problems.

Haha I was kinda wondering the same thing. I did well on that passage but some of the other ones gave me a little trouble. I'm working on section 2 today and let me tell you they are fairly challenging. I have a funny feeling I'm going to get owned on the P.S. 🙁

i find the first couple of passages per chapter to be a little bit more difficult, not because they are inherently more difficult but because you are not used to having the material tested in that kind of way.. so after you do the first few passages you become more familiar with the concepts they are testing and with the way they are tested.. so it's not necessarily that the passages get easier but your mastery of the material helps you move through it. don't give up if the first few passages kick your butt and you get a lot wrong! just learn from those mistakes and keep moving through it! once you are done with all of the passages you will feel really good about your handle on the material, totally worth it!

Yea, I thought in the beginning they were somewhat hard. Only the first chapter or so. It gets easier as you learn to think about the material. The first phase shouldn't be that bad though meaning you should get at least 15 or 16 out of 21. If you get that then you have a good understanding of the material. Just keep working through them and judge more by your performance on phase II in a week for section 1 rather than right now.

Hope this helps,

Yeah I think some of them are just ridiculous too, even after looking at the explanations! Wait til you get to section 3. I thought work was easy, but those passages were killing me. Not to discourage you or anything, but I'm glad I'm making the mistakes that I am right now rather than later.
