my understanding about the eligibility to qualify for American Board of ophthalmology is that you have to have full 36 months of formal residency from an ACGMME acredited program.
Does ABO make any exceptions to the above rule???????
Do they accept any form of fellowship training in United States as part of 36 month training??????

It actually ends up being a little less than 36 months because there is a certain amount of time off that is acceptable (this is left to the training program, and is not explicitly specified by the ACGME or ABO).

The second question is easier. No. That fellowship training does not count.
