Tonorrow is the day for me (I think for the entire nation?)

Interested to hear from people that have taken the exam in the past. What did you think? Is it like the in-service exam we take every year of residency?

Haven't studies at all...hoping for some reassurance.

Sooo, having NOT taken the exam on purpose, I suspect it'll be like the in-service exams -- at least it is on the ACGME side of the house --- but with the AOA you can never tell, they've always got something to prove and you'll get the random smattering of squirrelly "maintain the osteopathic distinctiveness" questions where the attitude in 3 dimensional space of a particular cranial and/or sacral bone or nodule will somehow be associated with OMM and will be THE MAGIC CLUE to the diagnosis -- at least in the opinion of the writer.....

Don't worry --if you've done well on the in-service exams, you'll likely be ok.

Can you tell I'm not a big fan of the AOA?

Did you do anything for the ABFM side of things? So it was similar to ITEs?

What'd you guys think? I feel like my first half was ridiculously easy, but the second half bent me over and had it's way with me. 🙁 Total # items I think came out to slightly below 400.
There were a lot of questions that didn't even seem like they were written by someone who knew English. Retrospectively, I made some simply, stupid mistakes which I wish I caught in time.
In regards to ITE, I don't think it was anything like the ITE. I reviewed the 2015 and 2014 ITE (both of which I passed with a fair margin).
Right now, I don't feel too good about it. Either I passed it, or barely failed it. It doesn't affect me in regards to graduation or at my new future job, but it certainly hurts my pride and I'd rather not study again for this thing and dish out another $1000. 🙁 I wish the AOA/ACOFP would provide specific resources to help residents study for this thing. It's sad that they fail X amount of people for monetary reasons. Here's hoping on passing.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but realizing how petty the AOA can be -- you may want to reconsider posting details of the exam as it violates one of the agreements of being allowed to take the exam -- what's the level you need to reveal to get hammered? No one really knows --- I personally don't risk it.

Actually, all I did was study as many ITE's as I could get my hands on --- I got through 3 and wish I had been able to do all 5; You'll start to see patterns of questions and patterns of thinking which is all you really need -- if you got through medical school and residency, you've got the base of knowledge -- now you need to know how the question writers think....

Yikes really? I was actually unaware of that. It's kind of general...I tried to edit the post but it doesn't look like it affects that other Quoted posts. Gah, just another thing to worry about. -_-

Well he didn't actually posts questions or specific topics just general subjects. I agree though, hard to say.

1) I don't think the OMM was terribly difficult if you compare it to COMLEX.
2) I'm glad I did my rheumatology rotation.
3) I'm glad everything was grouped by section as this let me access different parts of my brain (corny, I know 😛).
4) I'm glad I did a sports medicine rotation.
5) I'm glad 3 days before the exam I had a geriatrics lecture.

I wish there was a minimum passing score available like there is for the ABFM... ~380-390.
