If a woman who's 4 weeks into gestation, takes oral contraceptive pills or morning after, will the fetus abort?
 
im not in medical school. But I thought that the placenta releases estro and porgesto. So if someone were to take birth control or morning after which is high levels of estro and pro, I don't think the baby will abort. Just remember that from the MCAT I took this August. Ask someone else to make sure though. Peace!
 
I guessed so too, but anyone has any other opinions on this?
And what OTC can cause abortion easily?

You've gotten yourself in quite a jam, haven't you Eric? I suggest you just fork out the $500 for the procedure.

ECP's work by delaying ovulation, inhibiting tubal transport, or preventing implantation - they have to be used within 5 days or they're useless. By the 4th week, the fertilized egg is implanted.
 
Short answer: no, neither EC (MAP) or OCPs will abort a 4-wk fetus. Safety studies have been done on these to show no significant increased risk of fetal defects either.
Mifepristone and other Rx meds will abort (that's one part of RU-486). This is a medically supervised therapeutic abortion. D&C may still be required to remove products of conception.
Folk medicine and naturopathic physicians probably know of many herbal remedies but I don't know enough natural medicine to discuss intelligently.

Haha, hey guys, when I posted this, I knew I would get some flak for it, nah, no one I know's preggies, and definately NOT my gf,just that I'm doing my obgyn posting currently and would be giving a talk about abortion this Friday :laugh:

I'm serious, trust me 😛
