I just had a quick question.

is it okay to abbreviate "University of ____" to "U of ____" when the school name comes out for the 2nd time in my personal statement? I need to cut down like 5 characters (4,500 characters including spaces) and that actually helps it.. just can't seem to find a sentence that I could leave out.. 🙁

Combine a sentence using "and" or just abbreviate university as Univ.

As long as it's the second time, I don't see what the issue would be with that. If at all possible though, I would use Univ.

I just put UCLA instead of University of California: Los Angeles.
