Hi all,
For those that did an anesthesia rotation during their intern/CBY year, how exactly does it differ from a med student rotation? From what I understand you are basically paired up with a resident or CRNA and probably not given a whole lot more responsibility than the typical med student.

Also I know it pales in comparison to the 3 yrs of training, but is this month educational enough that it is worth scheduling late in the year, as in just before you start CA1 so that the material is fresher in your mind?

Thanks in advance

I am an intern now (or orienting to be one anyway). I think you basically need to talk to the PD where you will do the rotation. They may treat it like a med student type rotation but I would bet that if you talk to your program (ie where you will do gas) and set it up at the end of the year they may pair you 1:1 with an attending and start treating you like a CA-1. But, really I think it is very program specific.
