Man, I hate that seal. Everytime I put my pen under the paper and slid it down really fast trying to be cool, I ripped that part of the page off...the worst tear was on the writing sample ={

Anyone else hate that seal? Is this seal to represent how well we will treat our patients? Will they look at the seal to determine how gentle we are? Could this explain the discrepancy in scores for many participants? AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH :scared:

Or not, but still, I hate that seal because I kept tryin to open it all fast and tearing everything ;0

The seals I've had on all my other tests have always been perforated, but the MCAT's seal was rubber. I wasted a good 5 seconds trying to break the damn seal.

5 seconds?

I took a good 30 seconds getting it off for PS.
After that, I resigned myself to tearing off a piece of the cover 🙂

Hahaha w00t I wasn't the only one 😀
Btw clocks, we're gonna fail cause we're not gentle enough >:|

i wasted time for the verbal seal!! then it came off all weird and every time I tried to turn the page it would get stuck on what was left of the seal.

Damn.. how are you supposed to open that thing anyways?!

i think it might be easier if you open from the middle of the test.. rather than the first page

Obviously, this is the most important part of the exam. We must discuss new strategy in case we face this beast again. 😀

Yesh you might be right firebird...hmmm

I always broke it right after they gave me the test and just waited for them to pass the rest out. then they said break, i was ahead of the game.

too bad, i was the first to "break the seal" because of the gatorade. that wasted 5 minutes.

Maybe, in addition to pens, pencils, and a watch, we should be allowed to bring letter openers to the exam...

I had a harder time not laughing thinking about being out drinking and trying not to "break the seal" with the first trip to the bathroom. I thought about that every time the proctor said it! 😀

I also ripped the page one time, but I don't remember which seciton that was...

this thread is funny- props to author

yeah, i was lightning fast on all 3, even had my pencil under the page before the proctor sad to break the seal... did manage to rip a good portion of the VR front page off, but FU*K VR!

I felt like such a fool fiddling with the seal while the other 109 people in the room had their heads buried in their booklets. I was considering calling a proctor over.

I tried using my eraser end to pop it to no avail. I then looked to my trusty fingernails but I had clipped them earlier. I was truly desperate.

I used my pen to break the seal on the first writing sample and tore the top half of the page off. Luckily it was the front page so the sample wasnt interupted at all. Still, it was kind of funny.

hahahaha, wow i agree, i laughed after each section cuz i was trying to be soooo slick 😛

those seals were a b#tch

I had trouble initially. I almost lost the grip on my pencil because I swiped at the seal too hard. But at the end of the day, I became a pro at it. 😎

Personally, I am a proponent of the "thumb" technique when it comes to breaking this seal. Had no problems at all!! 👍

this thread is so hilarious! i had the worst time trying to open the seal on the writing sample part, i nearly tore the entire page off, hahaha

Well, if my fat thumbs could fit inside the booklet I would have done that 👍

that seal, i hate those seals. They're the worst part of the mcat. i couldn't get those damn things open! I wound up tearing parts of the covers off.

Wish I could contribute for myself, i guess my test was broken. No problems with the seals. The guy next to me though....tried to be all cool and slash his pencil through the PS section booklet...flung it a good 6-7 feet. Broke the nerves though, I was laughing out loud as I started the first passage.
