About Kaplan midterm...

Could you guys give me some comments about the Kaplan mediterm exam comparing to real DAT? I just finish the Kaplan mediterm, but did not do well.....kind of disappoint...
Especially for bio part, there are many "detail" term which I know but do not memorize them clearly. Thanks.

In my opinion, the Kaplan midterm was extremely grueling. This is usually the first "mock" exam that you have to take and is a full length test. The biology questions are harder. My suggestion for biology is learn EVERYTHING. However, Ochem and Gchem are much much harder on the midterm than on the real DAT. Math also was insanely harder.

Take your score with a grain of salt. Make sure you go back and know why you got each answer right and why you got each answer wrong. It takes 4.5 hours to do the DAT. However, It should take you around 10 hours to go over all them answers. Make notecards.

Remember Kaplan has keys, with full length explanations. Utilize them.

I must agree with everything Desi has written. The only additional thing i would suggest is for the ochem and genchem is take some of the harder questions to your old chem TA. Often times they can explain things in laymans terms and show you short cuts. I didn't do the Kaplan course, but i know some people who did and i saw the exams and explanations and found that there were mistakes in them.

Remember the more you do the better you will do. It's that simple. Note cards are the best way to memorize facts. For bio i took notes from the big book and compiled them in another note book. Repetition is key.

Hi Desi and shootin4par, you guys are really helpful!!!!!!!! I do need this sense to measure my performance in Kaplan midterm and change the method I used to study if there is any inappropriate.

May I also ask you guys a question? I CAN'T finish the reading section. I spent so much time on searching the keyword and even I found them, the question needs me to "summarize" the whole idea about the keyword. So, just finding the keywork is sometimes useless. How did you guys do in this part?

DON'T USE KAPLAN'S STRATEGY!!! IT IS GOOD, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME. Remember it is on computer and you will have 60 minutes on the real DAT, the Kaplan one gives you 50 minutes. So that is 10 minutes more, so there will be definately time to finish.

key words is the way to go.
