Today, I got a secondary from KU through email. Do they screen?
BTW, I am a non-resident. But I have ties to Kansas though.

residents get automatic secondary.
about 75% of nr's get screened out.
congrats and consider yourself lucky [and good].

dammmm, are you sure about that?? 'Cause my stats are definitely not the greatest. They must have liked SOMETHING ELSE about my application.....but I don't know what!

Interesting!!!

How did you know about my background?

Maybe someone who filled out the KU secondary might help me. On page 3 where it asks a bunch of questions, it says you can't exceed 255 characters including spaces. I think that's an extremely limited amount of space to answer some of the 'describe' and 'explain' kinds of questions. Is it OK if we go beyond the specified limit?

i didn't. i was just very concise in my responses (that's around 2 or 3 sentences). Perhaps they don't really want to read through hundreds of long essays. i would ask them if you want to go over- you don't want to risk getting your response cut off.

By the way, if you have significant ties to Kansas, I think they give secondaries to everyone scoring an MCAT score of 24 and above or something like that. They extremely favor out-of-state applicants with ties over those without.

I am an out-of-state applicant to KUMC, and just had my interview this week. It's not hard to get an interview, either, if you have ties.

Good luck!

It was a long time ago when I did my secondary, but I think it tells you that you CAN'T go over the number of characters. Like, it pops up a thing that won't let you save it until you reduce it the specified number of characters.

It's the same way for everyone, nobody can answer the question well in one sentence. Write a nice little blurb and be done with it. I don't think that has all that much bearing on anything, they know what they're going to get with 250 characters.

My $.02
