about second language requirement

i'm planning to take french this semester.
my school however offers japanese classes and since my first language is japanese,
my counselor told me that i can receive credits for second language by taking a japaneses assessment exam.
..my question is that, is it better to take other classes (such as upper psychology)if i can satisfy second language credit?
or it doesn't really matter?

why dont you place out with japanese and take french for fun?

pass out using Japanese and take a course you are interested it. if that course happens to be Spanish, so be it... if it's Art then do that...
