hi everybody. i am about to get a c if in chem 2 and i wanted to know if there is anything that i can do to protest it. i got an A- in chem 1 and we have a new professor for chem 2 and he is really crazy. out of 30 kids in my class 12 people dropped the class because they know this professor is a lost cause. i really regret not dropping it when i could.
the average gap in this class is a 74. i have a 73 and am 3rd highest in my class.
he doesn't curve or anything. is there anything i can do to protest this grade. i don't want to destroy my gpa and have to retake this class also.
also if i do end up getting a c- i know i have to retake this class. but when i do retake it, does it completely override my grade for this one, or does it average the 2 grades together? what exactly happens when you retake a class.
and anything i can do to protest this grade that i am about to get?

As far as when you apply to dental school, if you retake BOTH attempts are considered. I am not sure how to proceed regarding your questions about protesting. Perhaps, there will be a curve any way? Good luck!

Not what you want to hear, but there's not a whole lot you can do here. One of the games we play as undergrads is choosing classes with easy professors (ex. English courses). The DAT is the equalizer in these situations because some schools are easier/harder than others. When you take the DAT make sure you nail the general chem section, it'll show admission committees that you know the material but there was an extenuating circumstance during general chem 2 (strict teacher, family death, etc.).

Next time you're in this position, see if there is another section with a different teacher or just drop it and sign up for the online version.

it is not worth retaking classes unless you have failed them. generally, it's recommended to take an upper division course of that particular one you did not do well in. In your case, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and or/ organic chemistry...

To add to this, organic chemistry and biochemistry is required for many schools anyway. So, it is built in. Go kick some butt, OP!
