My friend, a DS1, said its getting pretty stressful for him with all the daily studying and quizzes and labs and so much more. My question is for all you veterans out there? I'm sure you guys care about your health, how do you deal with all the stress?

Exercise & EtOH, each at frequent intervals, seems to be a popular prescription

Substitute mindless watching of TV & DVDs for drinking, that could work too.

hmm, interesting..

Oh yeah, I also forgot, sleep. Sleep was like a luxury commodity for me in the first two years. Lots of sleep on the weekends, sleeping in Saturday mornings was a must. The TV & DVD watching wasn't really till years 3 & 4.

I also had a bad take-out habit all four years. Thinking about what I would eat & enjoy eating that night used to be a nice distraction for at least some of the day. If you can pair this habit with the gym habit, you'll be golden.

i don't understand how you can survive dental school/med school without etoh! that is a requirement.

I'm not much of a drinker myself. The take-out thing for me is also true. You definitly find a lot of gym rats in my year. I have a stair stepper and I like to do that for about half an hour a day while watching tv. Sorry to say this, but sex help A LOT. 😀

I used to make VOODOO dolls of all the proffs and students that got on my nerves! LOL! I think they even worked ! 😉

Seriously? Exercise for me helped. When I was in the pool, I would do one hour worth of swimming. As I swam each lap, I would count and focus on that number ....one, two...and at times, I would vent my anger in the pool as well. Nothing like swimming against a current! Running on the treadmill was good too.

I actually regret not swimming as much as I should have because it worked wonders for my anger and stress.

Laughter is a good remedy. Rent a funny DVD or go to a comedy night.

Meditation, playing and/or listening to music also helps me wind down.

Exercise, sleep, naps, music (playing and listening) will all help

Smoke some bud... 🙂

Lots of sleeping. Sex. Drinking (sorry I know you don't want to hear this). Some exercise. Get away from it all occasionally. I always eat really well.

When I got super-stressed I didn't hesitate to contact the appropriate medical professionals either. No shame in that. Just being honest here.

Oh, I'm so jealous! I wish I still had it in me to smoke some pot occasionally. Somewhere over the years I got OLD! 😱

Vaporizers.

both excellent delivery mechanisms for THC

Nitrous......that's for kids! The IV narcotics are the way to go. I have an indwelling catheter between my toes and I snake the port up just above my sock line...... 😱

Or, I drink a lot of red wine.....you know for the antioxidants.

Vaporizers???......ok I really must be old because I've never heard of that one. 😳

Care to explain???

vaporizers are devices that heats the weed at a temperature that's high enough to vaporize the THC into gas while low enough so that no actual burning occurs. When you breathe from the tube all you get is pure thc-air mix. So odorless, tasteless, no coughing, no gagging, inhale as much as possible.

I am learning so much here 🙂

Yeah, cause you look like the "working out" kind of guy. Judging your pic from the old avatar, I would put you at a buck-25 TOPS! 😉
