I am looking for jobs and testing waters. It is crazy what a wide variety of opportunities are out there.

I see suburban areas compensating well with room for negotiation. Academic positions are not forthcoming with compensation packages and bonuses at times when I talk to them. They start off by saying "as you know this position is competitive". It appears there is not much legroom for negotiation.

For those in academic cardiology - who signed up recently what does an average salary for non-invasive cardiologists look like? TIA

250k total package at my former institution (Tier 2).

I've heard as low as $100-200k for ivory tower mostly research positions. With $300-350k at lower tier academic places, satellite locations and the like. But negotiation in academics isn't really open from what I've seen, not just cardiology. Basically take it or leave it.
