I know we at emory are wanting to hire a regional trained guy.

Take your pick, dude. If you are qualified, U.S.-educated and trained grad with strong regional experience, you can pretty much go anywhere.

With your regional background, I know Temple university hospital in philly would give you a serious look. As an extra plus, a new attending we got this year (also with regional experience) told me that the pay/benefits package was really good here.

You should be able to get several offers from academic centers as there is a strong demand for regional anesthesiologists in both academic and private practice. It depends on what you are looking for. For instance, if you are looking for an academic program that has a fellowship (and presumably has a core group of regional anesthesiologists and the volume for both residents and fellows), you can view the list of programs that have a regional anesthesia fellowship on the ASRA webpage at: http://www.asra.com/education/regional-fellowships.html. If you are interested in a specific location, you might consider sending an updated CV and cover letter to the chairpersons of academic anesthesiology programs in that area (http://www.aapd-saac.org/membersalpha.php). Just make sure you can identify a successful mentor who can facilitate your career in academic regional anesthesiology if that is what you are interested in. Would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Good luck - Chris
