Academic Update Period

For the academic update period, will we have to mail out another official transcript to ADEA so it can go through the whole transcript verification/gpa recalculation business?

For those who are taking classes both fall and spring semesters, will you continually be upgrading your grades or just wait until the spring semester ends to do it all at once?

The Academic Update period opens up sometime in November I think. You can only do it once, so do it after you get your Fall semester grades. It will not make sense to wait until after spring, b/c that will be too late. You will need to send official transcripts again as well. If you get accepted, your dental school will request your spring grades as well.

i just got an A in the last part of gen chem and now IM DONE UNDERGRAD.

Would it be worth it to go through all the trouble of academic update only to report 1 grade?

Are you taking anymore classes in the Fall or Spring as a non-degree student or anything? If not, I would just call each dental school and see if they will accept an updated transcript directly to their office since you can't use Academic Update until it opens up.

No, unless I get into Michigan and take sociology. But I was wondering whether it would be worth it at all to let schools know of 1 additional grade, now or during academic update.

I think you're required to, especially since it's a pre-req that you just completed.

Ok. Have u had any experience with sending an updated transcript? I feel like they'll just brush me off and tell me to update them in Nov.

Yeah I did it last cycle and didn't seem to have any troubles with it. Only a few schools said they would not accept it since they are on paperless systems (Louisville and Boston come to mind). You can just call them up and ask if you can mail it to their office.

Last cycle it opened up on Nov 17. I'm assuming it will open up sometime around then this cycle as well.

At the time of my AADSAS submission, I did not put down any planned coursework for Fall 2010 (because I was not sure what post-grad work I would be doing). Currently I am doing coursework, but can I still input these new classes I am currently taking and grades during academic update?

Yeah you can create another category for completed coursework and enter your current courses and grades after you receive them. You'll also need to send an updated transcript to AADSAS and have them verify your grades and update your GPA.

Yeah, I have Nov. 16 in my calendar... but I'm waiting to update until I have my fall semester grades in (sometime late December) because otherwise it would just be the 2 classes I took this summer.
