Does any of you know any medical school offer an accelerated program for students who are leaning Family Practice ( 3 years of medical school and 3 years of residency) instead of 4 years? Thanks
New York Medical College offers such a program in Internal Medicine (Primary Care, not Categorical) at St. Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center in New York, one of their affiliates.
Do you think that these will programs will get more popular when PA's and NP's represent more of the total primary care providers. It seems like a decent idea to me, that 4th yr. of med school is spent learning stuff that my be irrelevant to general practice, but if you were to be a FP with OB then I could see the need for more surgical experience if you were to go that route in a rural area.
