actually, I'm in the same situation except I only took the comlex and got a 466/80. I'm a B+ student, just a poor standardized test taker. i have scholarships, involved in extracurricular, research (unpublished though)
I am a 3rd year osteopathic student who wishes to stay in california (specifically northern cali)
1) is my score competitive enough or should i take the usmle. i'm afraid of hitting a lower score and looking bad.
2) for DO, if we match the osteopathic route, then we automatically get dropped out of the allopathic match. There are only 4 DOs FP residency in cali (Arrowhead, Downey, Chino Valley, Pacific Long Beach)---do you know anything about those? and how good they are?
3) if i apply with 466, would i have a good chance to match into an allopathic fp residency in cali? for example: natividad, santa rosa....or any of the ucdavis program back north for me?
4) which residencies do you suggest me doing my auditions in? i don't want to waste time at a program where i have no chance of getting in. i think i'm likeable in person, but i may not be the fastest or sharpest when being pimped. but when i'm there, i'm willing to work hard and show i'm interested.
what would you do if you were in my shoes? thank you.
oxystein: i have read that uci, loma linda, usc, ucla, kaisers, scripps only accept usmle scores.
