What is an acceptable reason to delay and interview without making up some ridiculous story if you already have a day scheduled but need to push it back now? esp. if you called and got it moved up? should you just let it go or risk looking even more annoying and push it back?

esp. if you called and got it moved up?

So you've already changed the date once already?

i got it moved up already and took the earliest date when i called to move it just because i was so excited to get an earlier day after trying so much. Now I realize I can't take off work that day because of our big monthly meetings with all the managers and their teams. I could put up a fight at work about it but it would look reaaallyyyy bad and I think they think i'm being sketchy with my days off already. I'm ready to quit for dschool admission but i would prefer if I don't have to so I can still try to make some money to pay for interviews and admission.

I feel so irresponsible explaining this to the adcom as why i need it moved back esp. when I called up to ask for the earlier date and I agreed to it in a heartbeat. I got too excited to fast and forgot to think there could be a conflict.

have any of you moved dates around so much? what did you say? i just feel like it's going to hurt my chances of admission so badly 🙁

Just move the date. No big deal. The people that schedule your interview date probably don't have any say in your fate anyways.

I tend to agree. If they ask why you need to reschedule, just tell the truth.

do you think explaining the work conflict is bad though because i should be willing to put dental school issues first? should i tell them a different more acceptable reason?

has anyone else done this?

thats is indeed a poor excuse, if I had a manager who would not give me the time off for a dental school interview - i would quit

I had a much more serious reason, and they moved my interview gladly. I was accepted to that school today. So if you have a legitimate reason I know it's okay. In your situation, I really don't know.

If you don't already have any acceptances, I probably wouldn't change it. On the other hand, if you haven't yet been accepted anywhere, you probably don't want to lose your job. Since you already called and had it moved once, I would probably keep the interview.

Do not reschedule again! It's getting late in the cycle. You know that schools love to feel important. They're trying to sell themselves to you as well. Scheduling an early interview shows me that you are eager to hear about what they have to offer. Will you get fired if you miss this meeting or would the managers just be a little steamed and write you up? What's more important? Not looking reaaally bad at a job you have no intentions on turning into a career or not looking reaaally interested in a dental school that is clearly interested in you?

considering i've already taken off for other upcoming interviews i would rather take a pass for this school than those. I just don't want to push the button SO MUCH with this that they don't let me take off later in a week and a half cuz that one is more important. I have one other option so keeping my job at this point is realatively important. I wouldn't quit it for this school basically but still find the school important enough that i do want to go check it out, i just can't now. I know it looks really really bad. that's why i'm worried.

it's probably gonna kill my acceptances chances there but i just want to keep it open and maintain somewhat nice atmosphere at work since i need to be able to take off upcoming days. :scared::scared::scared:

i was ready to call and explain the work situation. now should i just say personal reasons? my work ppl don't know about dschools so its fishy enough that i take off random days every 2 weeks!😱

You know I have read some of your past threads/post and if I remember correctly you came across as "I would do anything for an interview" in all of them. Now that you did get them, you now have issues. It is my opinion that at this point in the cycle it is not wise to prioritize interviews if you haven't already gotten into a school. Most of us had to make sacrifices with jobs, family, to "chase our dream." For some of us it was well worth it because now we know that we will be going to dental school next fall. You can always get another job. You may not get another interview. The interview you pass up may just be the one school you would have been accepted to. Just my 2 cents.

How important is this dental school thing to you? Sounds like it's less important than your current job. Good luck on whatever you decide. Remember, interviews are a blessing.
