I feel so excited about acceptances that I want to send thank-yous, but the letters/emails are pretty much form letters. Are thank yous usually sent to Deans, etc after acceptance?

Good question! What should one do after an acceptance? (besides have a party)

As far as etiquette goes, I think the most appropriate thing to do is send them a deposit check, which is what they are most concerned about, but if you want to send them a thank you card go ahead. Other than a dean or your interviewer, I'm not sure who else you would send it to. I'm sure they will appeciate it, and they sure aren't going to withdraw your acceptance because you didn't send them a nicer card or email.

In my opinion, the process becomes "no rules" once you get your acceptance.... no real format to follow since you've acheived your goal. Do what feels right... I would write a thank you letter or call up the dean and let him/her know how you feel. If there were others who helped you in your process or that you appreciate the help of, you should thank them too.
