Should I apply to more schools to make sure that I'll get an acceptance letter by Dec 7th? So far, I have received at least 14 interview invitations [see below]. I am 99.99% sure USC will also send me an invitation letter. I am a bit worried. I've been told, this year, there is a 40% increase in the number of applications.

Geeez. I only applied to three schools and you dont see me worrying. Just pick one school you really want to go to and 2 schools you sort-of want to go to. I think you have enough to get an acceptance from at least half.

it's amazing how many people like to throw money away. 14 interviews? are you serious? unless your GPA is in the gutter, along with your DAT stop worrying. since you got the interviews you are a competitive applicant, but you don't need SDN to pat your back. pick three schools like stated previously, and sit back and relax. you'll get into a school.

ditto

I only applied to 3 schools, too...but then decided that school #3 was a mistake because I would never go even if I was granted acceptance today. The way I see it, I've only applied to 2 schools and am OK with that. And that's taking into consideration that I don't have "stellar" DAT and GPA, but maybe average or slightly above. I'm not freaking out yet. I've been invited to interview at the 2 schools I am seriously considering. If I get into that 3rd school, and not the other two, I would simply not go. It's a matter of where you want to study and where you can realistically see yourself. Make some decisions and hang in there.

You guys know he's not serious right?

I am serious and I definitely wouldn't apply to only two schools even if I had AA=60 and GPA=5.0.

Obviously this guy just wants his ego stroked, so if that will put an end to this ******ed thread then I'll do it.

No way dat student, you shouldn't apply anywhere else. You're the best, no one in there right mind would reject you. 14 interviews,... that must be like a world record! I think I'll name my first born child after you.

I sincerely hope you started this thread as a joke, because if you didn't you are seriously pathetic.

if this is serious, you need to grow a backbone...

Thanks so much for the replies. I try to stop completing my file at more universities. I like all the schools that I have visited so far. I hope that I'll get in somewhere. I try to stop panicking.

dec 1st is the mailout date for ACCEPTANCE letters. which means that had the schools wanted to reject you, they would have rejected you by then. since you've already gone to a slewful of interviews and haven't heard back yet...chances are, it's good news. usually the schools will let you know within a few weeks post-interview if they don't want you.

calm down and chill out. because in the next few months, until december, the anticipation will only grow worse. i fondly remember checking my mailbox 3 times a day around the dates of december 7th (it also made it harder b/c i was living far away from the dental school i was waiting for--so it was extra snail mail time vs people who live near the school got their letters on dec3rd).

donkey, what the HELL is that thing in your avi? mutant cross between a ...i don't know...

So is it true that Columbia sends out rejections after interviews before Dec 1st? Thats what i gather from what you said above.

From what i know, most schools that INTERVIEWED you...will keep your denial letters until December 1st as well.

The Million Dollar question. DOES ANYONE KNOW if schools send out rejections after interviews (pre 12/1 interviews) or not?

from what I know.. I interviewed with Baylor and they said that.. if YOU INTERVIEWED.. that they send out acceptances first, then wait to see who accepts/rejects... then if there are still spots.. they may accept you or put you on an alternate list.. after that.. they send out rejections to the rest..but I guess it all depends on filling their class...

that makes sense. So basically unless you completely BOMB your interview you probably won't hear anything until at least Dec. 1. THanks for the input

Katdds, is some what correct. I interviewed last year, and was finally rejected in August. UT houston has yet to reject my arse!

You kinda figure it out once august rolls and dental school is starting!

At my interview at ASDOH they said that if you were denied, they would let you know before Dec. 1st came around.
