hey guys! I haven't posted here much (but I do read the forums all the time!) but I'm kinda getting stressed out here and need some outside opinions. I am holding an acceptance at Maryland and was waitlisted at Pitt. Pitt is my dream school, but it's getting to the point where I need to find housing. How long do you think I should/can wait before I need to just go with Maryland? My current thinking is early to mid-July. What do you all think??? 🙄

How long can you hold onto the Maryland acceptance? BTW, Maryland is a great school.

It seems like you really want to go there. Have you communicated your interest to them or tried to find out when their waitlist movement generally happens? If Pitt is your dream school, wait as long as you possibly can. I would look into housing at both places if you think getting into Pitt is semi-probable....but obviously nothing of this sort is absolute. Are you planning on living in a single or with other people/med students?

Thanks for the input so far guys!

The financial aid office told me that if I ended up going to another school, it was no problem to refund my loan money. So the only real issue is housing (and I don't want someone to get off the Maryland waitlist that late...I understand their pain!). Since I don't know where I will be, I've decided to love by myself....I am trying to look for housing in both locations. It's just rough because I know that I will have to sign a lease sooner rather than later!

By the way, I know that Maryland is a good school. It was always one of my top choices. I just feel like I really belong at Pitt (but I guess they get the final say on that!)🙄

...right.

Anyway, as far as housing for Maryland is concerned you can probably give it a few more weeks, but then you really should find a quality place while you have a chance. I wouldn't deal with the hassle of finding a place in Pittsburgh until it became a reality; the waiting list odds are definitely against it at this point for them....
