I was put on UCSD's "Acceptance Pool" list - the letter said it's similar to an "alternate wait list", or wait list #1.

What's my chance of getting in from this list? Does anyone know how many people (what % of the class) get in/attend from this acceptance pool?

BTW-UCSD students study their asses off! Weather was nice, but atmosphere wasn't so great.

1 thing I liked the most about UCSD: the fact that Torrey Pines GC is 3 mins away from the campus and that it's like $30 to play there!!! 😀

I got put onto the same list/pool thing...I'm not entirely certain how it works. I was under the impression that acceptable pool people were reviewed at each committee meeting and so could be pulled off at any time. People still in the pool after March 15th or whatever the date is were then put onto an official waitlist. But I could be wrong...and this doesn't really answer your question...sorry!

They told me nothing about the acceptable pool and the chances at the interview. I got accepted so I don't know. But my guess is that there is a high chance you'll get in once you're in the acceptable pool.

BTW, is that's everybody's impression of UCSD: a good school but the curriculum is way too hard and the students study too much?

this is from an email from the UCSD SOM admissions office,

"There will be slim to no movement from this list until after May 15th when applicants must release all but one of the schools in which they have been accepted. Our school, as well as all medical schools, will see a surge of activity toward the end of May, beginning of June."

In all honesty, I had similar impressions after I interviewed last year. However, now I can say with a good amount of confidence that UCSD is not that different from most of the other "top 25" schools. I don't think they are significantly more difficult or more stressful.
