Acceptance Question: How long to decide?

I was looking the MSAR, and it seems for most medical schools you have to contact them within 2 weeks of an acceptance. Does this mean you have to DECIDE within 2 weeks, or just let them know you got their email?

I thought you can wait til May to decide😕 It would suck to get accepted early by a safety and go with it, only to get accepted by your dream school a month later. Just figuring this out, thanks.

you send them a deposit that is refundable up to a certain date (in march i think)

Aren't there some schools that want like a $1000 non-refundable deposit, though? That might be an issue.

You have 2 weeks to accept (this can vary a bit from school to school), but you can hold multiple acceptances until May 15. After May 15, you are only supposed to be holding 1 acceptance and schools will either send you a reminder letter or rescind your acceptance outright. These facts I knew with some certainty.

But here's a question: if someone is fortunate enough to recieve an acceptance, when can other schools see this information? Is this date also May 15, or can schools see acceptances at any point after October 15?

those must be DO schools, the AAMC i believe specifies a maximum (i think around 150) that MUST be refundable.

It's not October 15th. It might be May 15th, or a month or so earlier, but it is definitely not October 15th.

yah this is pre allo so i'm not worrying bout the do schools which are lame enough to have 1000 dollar deposits
