For those of you who were accepted last year...congrats! I have an overall MCAT of 25 but a 6 on verbal. Any of you who got accepted in the same boat? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Guy # are not important. It's a point sytem just like residency...
they look at scores but also what you did where you went to school, did you do any volunteer or research activities, do you have leadership potential.
Also this post should stay in the Osteopathic premed forum
Good luck

openit, what school did your friend get accepted to with a 18?
Yeah, I'm kinda curious about that myself.
ya, where did your friend with the 18 get in. I also got an 18...
A twenty five.....I would have given my right arm to get a 25.
I got much lower scores the two times I took the MCAT.
But, nevertheless, I am a first year at PCOM and I am doing just fine.
There is more to a person than just the numbers. Remember this when you go for an interview.
Show them why they can forget about your scores and begin to focus on your future as a member of the family of Osteopathic Physicians.

It is really hard to judge a person chances based on raw score numbers.
If I were on the admissions committee and you handed me a piece of paper that said "25 MCAT 3.3 GPA" I would look at you, then very nicely smile and walk away.
That doesn't mean dookie to me.
Just like if I were a physician (God willing I pass Anatomy) I would not look at the patients test results and make a definitive decision until I saw that patient.
You need to have the COMPLETE file in place to be a competitive candidate.
Posting your numbers on here does a few things:
#1. Wastes your time
#2. Wastes our time
#3. Gives false hope
#4. Ruins your confidence
Trust me when I say I UNDERSTAND the anxiety and uncertainty that goes along with this process. Nearly 3 years ago it was ME posting the same questions. And you know what? I got answers all over the place from "You will get in" to "Try another profession."
What did I take away from it all? A more confusing idea of what this is all about.
Work hard in school and do well on the MCAT. Numbers at DO schools hold less significance...less, but not little.
Best of luck to you.
And remember, there are really only 2 things that will keep you out of a DO school.
Saying "A.T. Still? No, I haven't heard of him", or throwing up on your interviewer.
Best of luck to you.
