I'm new to this DO thread. My story: I just graduated with a 3.53 GPA. I can't figure out my science GPA. I have volunteered at several hospitals but have not shadowed. I will be volunteering at a shelter for women and children. I am also studying for the MCAT for the second time; the first time I took it I had a 25. I also have to go back to school to do my organic chem lab in the summer because most med school require it and I want broaden my chances. My question is: if I take this last course (ends in August) is there still a chance that my application will be sent early enough for the 2008 matriculation? I am also finishing my application and all I need to send are my transcripts and my personal statement. Do I need to turn in all my transcripts at the same time, including the course I'm taking this summer? I don't want to turn everything in late because of just one course. Another question: with my stats that I mentioned earlier is there a good chance in being accepted to several DO schools? Thanks.

G'ah my head hurt trying to comprehend your post. Anyways, why are you even attempting the application? It is for the 07 cycle and not the 08 cycle. It is a waste of time. However, if you wish, go along with it and then print it all out and use it as a guide for when the 08 cycle opens up. When it does, all you have to do is transfer it onto the application. Don't submit the current application. Also, you should be fine for DO schools ...

If this last course your talking about is the organic lab you should be fine. Schools don't require that all pre reqs are taken before application just that all pre reqs are completed prior to matriculation. I would just supplement my application with that information once you get your grades. Also, my applications were sent in late september early october and I was fine. A lot of pre meds tend to freak out if their aamcas or aacomas isn't sent in on the day the apps open up. If you have lower stats it is definitely to your advantage but, on a whole, I think people stress out to much about the app process and the deadlines. Just my .02$

😕 umm.... the OP is talking about the '08 cycle.

OP: you can always update your AACOMAS with new grades as they come in. I even updated mine with the Fall semester grades after I already applied. Good luck:luck:

Well, yeah he says he's talking about 2008, but then goes on to talk about just completing his application, personal statement, and getting transcripts sent. Thus the confusion.

Shoot, you look just about like me in terms of numbers check MDApplicants... Got a 25Q the first time...Finished with a 32Q 6 mo. later in August. I actually think you'll be in excellent position to get an early interview (~late September/early October) and will be able to sit on a few acceptances until December. As for your transcripts, send them all in as soon as they are complete. I think a partially validated transcript/grades section is better than no validation. Hope this helps.

Exactly. i don't think Kuba even bothered to read the full post, and simply attempted to attack my post, heh.

As far as I know, the 08 application isn't even out. It's not out for the AMCAS and I assume it's not out for the AACOMAS either.

You need to complete your prerequisite before you matriculate not when you apply. Go ahead and apply and update your application when you have completed prerequisite.

Don't forget to shadow a physician, preferably a DO if you are also applying to osteopathic schools because almost all schools require that physician letter, and most will accept an MD letter as well. Unless you can get that letter from your volunteering you should start looking

😕 seriously? ok, but I just reread the post a couple times and I don't think I am confused. THe OP wants to know if they have to wait for their summer class to send in all the stuff. They have everything ready to go except transcripts(which they will send in when the application opens.) They are being proactive and asking this question in advance.

I didn't have an physician letter and I did just fine. I did have a letter from my supervisor when I worked as a paramedic, tho.

Pay attention.
Lighten up.

I think Kuba is right here. The OP states they are applying for the 2008 cycle. I realize he/she said they are still finishing their app but this has to be somewhat of a mistake. No one is still sending transcripts and LORs this late in the game (unless you're apllying to an inaugural class). Also, the OP states the Orgo course ends in August. Most schools start in early August so it would be impossible for him/her to complete the course before the start of school

That is the confusing tid-bit. At any rather, the OP will be aite. If people get in with late apps, that slight delay won't matter even if there is a delay.

sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the '08 matriculate cycle.
