acceptance to Howard?

Hey..i took my DATs and got a 16AA and 16PAT...My GPA is a 3.0 overall and 3.0 sci. I graduated last May '04 with honors in chemistry research and currently working as a dental assistant...I really want to go to Howard U for dental school...do i have a shot?..thanks!

Well your GPA is pretty low and your DAT scores are even lower. Honestly you would have pretty poor chances at most dental schools. Howard, however, looks at other factors such as race and willingness to practice in underserved areas. Have you had an interview yet? It is hard to predict wether or not you will be accepted. I would call an dtalk to someone in admissions at HU and find out what they think. Good luck, I applied there too. 🙂

Howard was one of the schools I applied to back in '96 since I was basically looking at any US schools that accepted Canadians. I got accepted there without an interview, just a letter in the mail. I didn't know much about Howard then but I was relieved that I got in somewhere. Then I got my other acceptance letters and ended up choosing Northwestern based on a referral from my orthodontist at the time.

I just interviewed there last week. We were 9 and all came from out of the DC area. They made us understand that they take students with low GPAs and transform them into excellent Docs.
