Exactly one week after interviewing at NYCOM I received my acceptance. Happy about that, however, there remains something of a dilemna: I still have some interviews to go, beginning next week, though the NYCOM deposit is due February 9th. One is at school X, which I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go to unless I was offered some sort of scholarship (doubtful), and the other is at school Y, which though I am not wild about the location (in fact, I'm pretty sure I hate it), I would be forced to seriously consider as the tuition is roughly half that of NYCOM-- this is an allopathic school, not that I am overly caught up in the D.O. vs. M.D. debate, but I do intend to specialize; this interview is not until Feb 7th. Comments? Questions? Suggestions?

interview at the allo one since its cheaper and you wish to specialize ... peace out on school X ...

I agree that interviewing is obviously in my best interests, however, the chief source of conflict here is the issue of time, and the consequences of potentially accepting an offer of admission and then receiving another offer.

i think many people "accept" admissions from more than one school by paying multiple deposits, or paying at least one, and holding out for another school. i dont think theres anything wrong with your going to the interview, especially since it seems the school may have something else to offer you.

again, this is just what i think, but most people on this board would probably tell you to pay the deposit so that you have a spot somewhere, but to explore all of your options.

:luck: good luck with whatever you decide.

Same boat here, accepted to nsu deposit do feb 20th and i am stilling waiting on on interview and two post interviews at allo

if its an allo school, id definitely take it. just pay the deposit and you're golden ... you can always withdraw if u get into the allo school, just know you wont get your money back ... small price to pay for a cheaper and nice school instate.

I cancelled one allo interview yesterday (out of state) I kind of like NYCOM. I did it also because of financial and location reasons. I got rejected from all state schools though. If I had a choice I would attend school which is cheaper and better location. As for specializing I want to go to General/Trauma surgery I spoke to one surgeon from the major hospital here he said there will be no problem to land a general surgery residency if I will have good board scores and be a good student.

There is only one MD school for which I would give up NYCOM...it is AECOM, but I did not hear from them yet so NYCOM here I come 🙂

What am i suppose to do pay 750.00 to nova and if a allo school takes me lose that deposit. Its non-refundable

I would do that. If allo school is your dream school...

Yes, I suppose that is the move. Though I'm not entirely keen on the idea of parting with another $1500, it's a small price to pay in echange for paying lowering tuition. Thanks --

it def sucks to put out so much money. but in the grand scheme of things (the medical school process), its chump change! and one day, you will be making more than enough to pay it all back and then some!
congrats on the acceptance, and good luck with the rest 🙂
