I was misinformed about the need to withdraw from 2 waitlists when my acceptance deadline came early on May 1st. I was concerned as I had no other acceptances. Wishing I had held out for my number 1 school. Does anyone know if it is either not possible or too late at this point to contact the admissions office to have my application reinstated? Does it make a difference if it is regular MD or MSTP? How would you approach this?

No experience with this but it would seem like you have nothing to lose by contacting your #1 school and just telling them the exact truth. However they have probably worked out their waitlist spots by now.

I'm confused? Why did you have to withdraw from waitlists on May 1st? Isn't that the point of them? Don't you only have to withdraw from all the schools you got accepted to except 1?

Yes. Some schools will pressure you to withdraw from all waitlists, but technically you can remain on a waitlist and elect to attend another school when they give you an acceptance up until you matriculate somewhere.
