Hey docs and future docs. I have a question in need of answers. I'm currently finishing my last semester as an undergrad and trying to pursue a career in dentistry. During my 4 years in college I played basketball and was in several organizations. Having these extra curricular activities hinder my overall Gpa. I'm currently at at 2.73 overall and the highest it can get to is a 2.8. My science Gpa on the other hand is at a 3.2 and I'm prepping for the DAT. What are my chances of getting in a dental school? Or should I get a masters or do post bacc??? Help!!!! Thank you

do some post bach classes and boost it up to 3.00+ and kill the DAT.
this is the secret formula that I don't tell anyone!

Your science GPA is already in a decent range. I'd say do a post-bacc or science related masters to get your overall GPA to above a 3.0. This should also help raise your science GPA to a 3.4/3.5 or so. Be sure to get a 20+ on the DAT and apply broadly, after that you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice. If you don't mind me asking. How was your journey into the dental world? Any similarities?

Yea, I was also a student athlete during my 4 years of undergrad. My GPA didn't suffer as much but I know how difficult it can be at times. My friend, also a student athlete, who has a similar GPA as you and is attending an SMP next fall if he doesn't get accepted this cycle. He had a 21AA/22TS on his DAT.

I just hope my EC can back me up.
