I am not in this situation yet, but have some quirky feeling that I might in the next month or so. So what does one do if you get an acceptance before finishing all of your interviews? I think most school give you 14 days to hold your spot, right? I would hate to have to decide without getting a chance to check out all the schools. What does one typically do in a situation like this?

I know that for me I had to pay a deposit of $500 before Dec. 15 to hold my seat...but after being accepted after that date I am not sure how much time you are given...I would tell you to bite the bullet, pay the deposit because in the long run how much is 500 or 1000 bucks anyway....the risk of not paying the deposit and losing your seat is much greater....you are free to do whatever you want (go to other interviews, check out other schools) as long as you pay the deposit they will hold your seat until you officially withdraw (usually non-refundable)

Some schools are very nice about granting extensions. One of the schools I applied to told us we had two weeks to send in a deposit, but when I talked with the dean of admissions he granted me two extra months! You never know until you try, anyway...see what you can do, be extremely nice about it, and if you decide on another school that you prefer you should withdraw your acceptance to the other schools ASAP.

Each school has a different timeline as to when the first deposit must be made. If you got accepted early, you had the Dec 14th deadline. I know of certain schools that require you to put a deposit two weeks after the acceptance. As indicated, you want to go on other interviews before you make a final decision. You will have to evaluate whether you would go to those interviews in light of being accepted from that school. Otherwise, you could put down that deposit and have time to go on other interviews. Some schools may even grant extensions, but it is up to that school. Best of luck! 🙂

Put down the deposit for schools that you would definitely attend.

Please note that this is only a "highly suggested" timeline and not all schools abide by it (bitches) but here it is

Colleges of osteopathic medicine may begin extending offers of admission at any time after the interview. Applicants will be requested to submit necessary matriculation documents, including a deposit, according to the following schedule:
those accepted prior to November 15 will have until December 14;
those accepted between November 15 and January 14 will have 30 days;
those accepted between January 15 and June 14 will have 14 days;
those accepted after June 15 may be asked for an immediate deposit.
