Hi all
I called OSU few days ago checking on my application and guess what they told me..this year they have a new dean and he decided not to give any preference to Ohio residents. both in and out-of-state applicants will be treated the same..what do you guys think? I hate that since I am an ohio resident

The class profiles are available on their website. But just to summarize it for you, for the class that entered this year, of 1,944 non-resident applicants, 50 matriculated in a class of 210.

You know that's really weird because I called them about the Alternate List and what it meant and the guy said that you'll probably be hearing from us around March/April and that it's a "deferred decision" in that they will look at your file again later. Also, he said the list is UNRANKED, which makes it really weird that you would get such a comment on your letter, unless of course he either knows **** or he's BSing me.

I cannot imagine how this can be true. Ohio State is absolutely required by state law to give preference to OH residents. I don't think any dean can take it upon himself to change this.

Thats funny, cuz the associate dean, Dr. Notestine, told us that applicants are infact given a score, with ones who have the highest getting immediate acceptances. The others are placed in a pool, and are considered EVERY month, till March, when they are officially put on the "waitlist". I dunno how or why we go different messages.

Not more than a couple of days ago you were asking for the email address of one of your Duke interviewers to send them a thank you, now you've been accepted, HHHAA!!!!. Also you said that you, by your own admission, were rude to the MSTPs at Chicago-Pritzker yet you've also claimed to be accepted there, double HHAA!!. I have heard of NO one who is applying MD/PhD getting such extremely early notification or in your case 2 day express mail notification. So my question is why do you feel the need to brag to people you don't know on an anonymous message board about accomplishments you've made up?

Why when Duke puts up in all of its official information that NO one finds out until Feb 28th or later that YOU somehow miraclously find out a SHOCKING 3 months before everyone else, hmmm?????

I have no problem with you personally that's why I don't resort to your immature tactics of looking up other people's posts on completely different threads. I don't know you personally so I couldn't say anything about it, yet you have already said that I must be a bad or mean person.

The only problem I have with you is about your post which claims you have been accepted to Duke's MD/PhD program. I do not care personally because I am not applying to the program, BUT there are people who are applying to that program who are anxious and worried about their application and they don't need someone spreading lies about acceptance into the program. That's it. It is very dangerous when people let posts which are false remain up so other people can see them and go out thinking that's the truth. It's not. Obviously you did not expect anyone to check the veracity of your statements which explains your actions to my pointing of them out as lies. If I'm the only one with guts enough to stop more misinformation than is already in the process from being thrown into it by posters like yourself, than so be it. I'll take that heat, because I know that if I were applying to Duke's MD/PhD program I would want to know how the truth about what was going on.

Raise my self-esteem, exactly where and what post did I try to do that. Look if you are an unknown third party to this matter than read the posts, and the links I've put up and see for yourself that Original posted that he HAD been accepted to Duke's MD/PhD program. So HE was spreading false information about that program which is a very sh*tty thing to do, and I called him on it.
