I received word today that I was offered a full time faculty position at a pharmacy school. I applied two months ago and after three interviews and a presentation I got a phone call from HR today with the offer. It's in a metro area and the school was opened within the past five years. Some of you may consider me a traitor as I am teaching in a diploma mill. However, pharmacy is going down the crapper anyways. I'm going to take the salary and benefits while you guys fight for hours.

It's best I stop posting on SDN for awhile. I wish you guys the best.

Lol @ how you ended the thread.

Good luck man, got to do what is best for you.

Best of luck. I imagine it was a tough decision to leave the Corps.
Really? Considering how they are treating you all?

I'm not going to criticize Op for contributing to the decline of Western Civilization in the same way that I wouldn't criticize a Walgreens pharmacist in the same way. As long as you're not actively the problem, then it's fine.

Dioloma mill or no, you do have to hang up that cynicism at the door for the sake of education and taking a rest from here will help clear your head.

Also, don't enter carnal relationships with your students, it rarely works out.

There was this guy who got fired in my company and couldn't get a job anywhere else ended up working for a diploma mill as clinical assistant professor. The school was opened 2 yrs ago >_>; The interviewer must have lost his mind taking him in.

Granted, I get tired easily these days, and the battles I have to fight seem more and more absurd... but the mission, the people, the safety net (i.e. medical retirement), and the benefits (free healthcare and high-3 pension plan) still make it seem worth it to me. There's also just something about the uniform and service to country that grounds me like no other work I've done... I just imagine that giving that all up wouldn't be an easy choice.

This is the school I was talking about. The comment section reads like comedy in the making. They have a new Pharm. D degree with 100% acceptance rate -___-;

American University of Health Sciences - Signal Hill, CA

A faculty shouldn’t have this mindset in the field...bad as it may be you’re an educator now. You have to set an example

Go mould those weak minds!

It's always been that way, people who couldn't hack actual pharmacy jobs, go to pharmacy school to teach. I had a professor back in the day who was rumored to have run 3 separate independent pharmacies in the ground, who taught pharmacy practice....as if this professor had any clue.

But hey Pharmacy Kid, why are you going to stop posting? Now that you are a prof, you will have lots more free time to hang out on the boards. Just don't start lame threads about how your pharmacy school is the best and is going to revolutionalize pharmacuetical care/MTM/medical home/whatever.

Goodluck! Just register a new account/new persona, give us the scoop.

Who are you again?

You’ll fit right in; a pharmacist who doesn’t care abt the profession and just strives for individual success. That’s the culture of the profession.
