I know this sounds strange, but I recently got accepted into my Alma Maters DPT program. I am grateful to be accepted, but I do not know if I want to go back for the DPT program. I applied to a handful of different schools, but this was my only acceptance. Do I go because I was accepted or take the risk and reapply next year in hopes of getting into my top choice?

Well, that partially depends on the reason why you don't want to go back. Are you just wanting to mix things up or have some sort of "dream" school? Those aren't good reasons to pass up the opportunity. If the school has some concerning things happening (really low pass rates, probationary accreditation, etc), then maybe that should cause some pause on your end. Ultimately, it's a major gamble to "hope" you'll get into your top choice next year. With this being your only acceptance out of a handful of schools? That's not a risk I personally would be willing to take. You could very likely get into zero schools next cycle, and then what? With my applications I applied to a ton of schools in locations I wasn't keen on because getting in was the most important thing. Fortunately, I didn't have to go to any of my bottom-of-the-list schools, but I would've sucked it up if I did because getting in and attending school ASAP was very important to me. With that said, I didn't get into any of my top-of-the-list choices and will be attending school in a town and state I have no desire to be in. That's just life and with PT programs being so competitive, that's how it worked out for many of us.

How are your stats? I was initially unsure about the only school I got into, but my overall gpa is only 3.01 so reapplying seemed real risky. I still debated but wound up accepting because after some more research I felt excited about the program.

I've also been out of school 4 years re-taking classes and getting volunteer hours so personally I was feeling pretty tired/ready to get started.
