how come these percentages don't add up?

They don't add up because you can vote for more than one school if you are turning down more than one acceptance. A total of 14 people voted up until now, so the the percentages are taken by that and not the total number of votes.
BUMP
This is a good idea.

I'm surprised NYU isn't leading the voting with all those no-interview acceptances. I'm also not sure how helpful this poll really is, because each school does send out more acceptances than there are seats in the class, so even though it appears, for example, 14 more spots will be available for Temple, in reality Temple ADCOMs might've accounted for those 14 to not come when they sent the offers out - hopefully you guys understand what I mean. This is probably less true for schools with really small class sizes.
Who turned down Harvard?

I know, but it's Harvard!!

I speak from experience.
Yea the real intellectuals are in Ft. Lauderdale. Give me a break dude. You want to bash a school, go ahead, but don't bash a perfectly fine city. Boston (especially Harvard) wouldn't want you in a million years anyway, you foolish hick. Keep on voting for GW for prez, that's what the real intelligent people do. The same intelligent people that are cocaine addicts and hang onto their daddie's coat-tail to get into school and skim by with straight C's.

Lauderdale is by no means a hick-ish city, and I'm from metro NYC and can say this w/certainty. And are you also assuming that she coasted through college with C's and got accepted because her d-a-d-d-y made it so? 🙄

my guess is that boree needs to loosen up a little......relax and realize that you don't have to be a d*&$......lighten up

Maybe dudes being a little harsh but I have to say that coral2005 is lying. She knows damn well she wouldn't turn down Harvard in a second just because she "doesn't like the Boston scene." I'm not saying no one should turn down Harvard but, I am saying that whoever says they'd turn it down without giving it any thought is a liar!

I'll second that......unless of course you were accepted to OSU......then everyone would turn down Harvard and go to Ohio State 😀

There's always stuff about a person's situation that you dont know. Extenuating circumstances,if you will.
PS: I wouldn't go to school in Boston even if I got into Harvard&you paid me to go there. Does this make me a liar, too?

Listen I have no problem with certain people not liking certain cities, that is all fair and good. But I do have a problem when you bash on my home town with absurd statements that coral is making, "Such yuppies and intellectual wannabes!!" He's choosing to go down to Florida of all places where they are obviously not educated enough to choose a governor or a prez that has a higher IQ than a squirrel. You make absurd statements about my home and I'm gonna have a problem, simple as that. I have yet to go crazy on anyone on this forum until now, and I am only doing so because it is warranted.

I don't think she was referring so much to Boston in general as she was to Harvard.Since you obviously don't go there, her statements shouldnt offend you.
And along the same lines, you say that she's choosing to go to school in FL where they arent educated enough to choose a prez/gov. Whose making unecessary generalities now?

Well plaza, you aren't coral so whatever you think he or she was referring to when making that ridiculous statement does not matter to me. Lets let coral speak for him/herself. Second of all, I never said they weren't educated enough to choose gov/prez, but rather not educated enough to choose a gov/prez that was smarter than my dog. It's not a generalization, it's a fact as they have been on the Jeb/George ticket for quite a few years now. Not to say that everyone in FL is ignorant when coming to politics, however FL can't compare to MA in terms of educated people--this is of course in response to the original "intellectual wannabes" comment.

I'm from Massachusetts, so naturally, you'd think that I would have wanted to stick around my home state and flock to Boston like everyone else did. I chose to go to school in Providence, which was no more than 40 minutes away from Boston, and since then, had absolutely no interest in even visiting that dump ever again!!
Additionally, I lived in Boston (in Beacon Hill) for one summer -- per the request of my fiance, and can honestly say I never wanted to go back there again. (No parking, all the hills, the traffic, the T, the pubs, boston common bums, the construction, the dirty pigeons, the cold --even in summer!!!) I am not lying when I tell you that Harvard (or BU or Tufts) could offer me money to go to their school, and I would turn them down. I'm not saying there are so many "intellectuals" here in FL, but I can certainly tell you that there are not so many wannabes down here -- everyone I've seen is nice and relaxed, and not getting all worked up and defensive about any little thing they read online.
I could have applied anywhere -- but I chose to apply to the 3 warmest schools I could find. Why? Because I hate the cold and love new/developing cities!! Turns out I got exactly what I wanted. I have a pool that I can use year round, don't have to put on a coat to go outside, don't have to wait for the T, don't have to scrape ice off my car, and am close to my family in the Dominican Republic.
And about FL voting for Bush -- I just moved here 4 months ago, so I have nothing to do with what they chose to do. I didn't vote for him, and that's all that matters.
😎 K?
P.S. Funny comment about riding Daddy's coat-tail to a girl who has put herself through college with a full scholarship while working and has not received a cent from her parents. Can you say the same?

Who are you to tell me I'm lying or to say that I haven't given it any thought?

To each their own. I grew up in Massachusetts in and around Boston. I now live in a crappy part of Southern California. People steal everything that isn't nailed down around here and the smog is unbearable sometimes. I would love to move back to New England, snow and all--mostly because that is where my family is, but also because I love the city. Boston is a city of intellectuals, lets face it--no where else has a greater concentration of colleges and universities. But, there is an air of superiority. I don't think Floridians, however, have the edge on picking a nitwit for governor---Mitt Romney--come on people!! 🙄
