I am accepted to a DO school but i want to retake the mcat because I might get more scholarship money. Is this wise to do?

Unless the school(s) you have been accepted to have told you that you will receive more scholarship money with a higher MCAT I doubt this is the case. I could be wrong though...

I would check to see if it would actually help you, and if so how substantially.

I'm not even sure if DO schools even offer those types of scholarships. I only hear about those for MD schools trying to attract applicants.

I'd say don't bother and enjoy your time before school starts. Worry about merit based scholarships when you're a med student.

These are my exact thoughts.

And improving the MCAT even just 5 points is HARD.

Unless they've said it would go a long way towards a scholarshp for you, I'd just enjoy my remaining time.

Not to say you aren't smart and capable--but I always consider the worst case scenario before moving forward.

Say you do put in a ton of time and effort, and don't improve--or do improve but not enough...then you've wasted one of your last real summers, precious friend and family time, and the MCAT fee/study materials if you purchase any more.

Don't do it. It's not worth wasting another 3 months of your life studying for the exam. Enjoy yourself now because all you will be doing is studying once school starts. Also get a job and make some money. That way you can be having some fun hopefully while still earning money instead of banking on getting more scholarship money.
