I have been accepted to the UTEP DPT class of 2017 and I am currently retaking Physics II and would like to drop it. I have asked the program advisor if this is going to affect my admission status, and was told it would not, but am worried about future implications of dropping the course. I made a 97 on the first exam but am feeling less confident on magnetism and upcoming subjects. My first time around at a school on the quarter system I received a C+, C, and C+ in the course. I retook the first semester earlier in the year and received an A this time.

Are you planning on attending UTEP? Have you begun your matriculation into the program? Your acceptance is in no way contingent upon getting a better grade in this class?

I have committed to UTEP. I emailed the Head of Admissions/Advising and was told it would not affect my acceptance one way or another, and the choice was up to me. She mentioned that vectors would be used in Kinesiology but that was covered in the first semester, and I have magnets and nuclear physics to look forward to in the future. I am just a little nervous because I have never withdrawn from a course before and also wondering if this may affect anything down the road or after graduation.

If you have IN WRITING (sounds like you do) a message from the school saying you do not need to complete the course, I would absolutely drop it! (If you did have outstanding courses that are required to start, those usually come on a bright colored form with your official acceptance package.) Unless you have found anything else that seems to indicate you need the retake (maybe something like "must get at least a 3.0 in pre req classes or something), you will be fine to drop it.
