So I've been accepted into OSUCOM. Does anyone have an suggestions for things I can begin to do now that will help my transition into medical school?

Possibly...
Take certain courses, look for apartments, talk to the school about certain records, etc....

I'm sure any advice would be beneficial.

Thanks!

osu as in oklahoma or ohio?

I'd get my financials straight such as loans, grants, scholarships so that I could plan a work schedule if needed. From there, one could build a budget and therefore target a price range for apartments and food and such.

I'd also try to meet some fellow accepted students and possibly find someone to split rent or atleast get aqauinted with to make the first days less awkward.

as in oklahoma state...good advice, thanks!

Do not take any courses, for the love of God. You want to enjoy your free time now. Of course, if you have to take some for graduation or something else, then that is a totally different deal. But if you have graduated, then you don't need anything else. I would start looking into housing and getting your financial aid together. Of course, you can't start filing for loans until after January 1, but you can always starting getting all the info together needed for that. Other than filling out other paperwork for school, relax and chill until school starts. You have no idea how much you will value free-time until you are in the trenches of med school, so take what you can get now. Go on vacation, play video games until your thumbs bleed, but if I find out you cracked open a Netter's to pre-study arm muscles, me and my other goons will hunt you down :beat:

Seriously, enjoy the time you have in front of you however you want to, but remember to enjoy it. Congrats on starting in the Fall and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Congrats on Oklahoma State, that where I am apply for the '09 cycle. I'm a little worried about all the hospital crap though. I am sure, though, that such a large school has some resources to pull something together though.

But as with nas, enjoy your free time!

Don't do anything academic. Spend time doing the things that make you happy. Spend time with family and friends.

On the school side: Get your financial aid and immunizations squared away.

Congrats!

ryryguy are you an out of stater for OSU?

OSU is awesome!! I hope to be able to interview there!! I would take a trip to the Carribean or Mexico and spend time doing things you love, because something tells me you will be way too busy once med school starts!:hardy:
