I was wondering if anyone would find a thread with GRE and GPA information listed as well as where someone was accepted or rejected useful? I'm hoping! Anyone want to share?
1) Clinical programs are required to disclose the average GRE scores and GPAs of each incoming class. Go to the program's website, then look for their Student Disclosure link. It can be tricky to find, but it's usually buried somewhere in the text! 😉
2) Buy a copy of Graduate Study In Psychology. It has every single program listed with the minimum and average GRE scores and GPAs for each program. It'll also tell you how large the applicant pool is and how many students are accepted from that pool.
3) http://pub43.bravenet.com/forum/3692451787/5 - There's a thread here called Clinical Ph.D. students: How many programs were you accepted into? People disclose their GRE scores and GPA's and how many programs they were accepted to, without specifying which programs.
I have APA Grad Study and have looked at all of the full disclosure information. However, I feel as though this information does not provide the the full range of information. This board seems to be much more popular and I am hoping we can get better information...
"We use a formula for our cut-off, which involves first dividing both of your GRE scores (Q and V) by 100 and taking the mean of the two, then adding your GPA to that number. (e..g., 700 Q, 600 V, 3.5 GPA= 7.0+6.0 /2 +3.5 = 10.0) For clinical applicants, we look at everyone above 10.0. Once you make the cut-off, we don't pay much attention to your scores any more." http://pub43.bravenet.com/forum/3692451787/fetch/522985
Yeh that formula had me pretty upset too. I also think the fact that they don't use the cutoff for minority applicants is completely unfair, but that's another discussion. I wish they would factor the psychology GPA into that formula, or the last 60 credit hours.
