Accepted Student Background Check Error

Hi everyone,

I know this was a careless mistake, but I entered 1 digit incorrectly in my Social Security Number (it blurs the numbers immediately after typed). The report has already been auto-released to my medical school.

Certiphi (the company) and my school cannot resolve the error and said that AMCAS is responsible.

I have contacted AMCAS and they seemed unsure how to remedy the situation, but said they would get back to me in 3 days.

I am really worried, has this happened to anyone before?

I didn't go through certiphi, my school wanted to use a different program, but the same thing happened to me. I contacted my background company and they set it up so the first check was private and set it up so I could put the code in and order a new background check.
I would contact cetetiphi and see what they can do about ordering a completely new background check.
Then contact the school and explain what happened and that a new (and correct) background check will be sent to them.
