Has this happened to anyone? You are accepted at a medical school. Then, when your transcript is audited, the school informs you that you don't have the required undergraduate courses, or that they were taken too long ago.
I ask because I have Physics credit from undergrad 10 years ago (I'm a non-traditional, postbacc applicant), I've been accepted, and now I'm paranoid that an acceptance is too good to be true, and that they will not accept my coursework.

If you do not have the required coursework, it will be listed as deficiencies on your acceptance notice. (at least all of my do have a section that either says "You fulfill academic prerequisites" or "You must complete 4 credits of calculus prior to matriculation". (I did a lot of statistics for research and calculus only to graduate).

Your courses do not expire. You already informed them of your academic record when you filled out AMCAS. So, if they did not care then, they will not care now, unles of course you lied. Then it might be a bad juju.

haha, no i didn't lie. basically, i'm just curious as to whether they look over your coursework when deciding whether to accept you.

They do, but they also accept people with (assumed) mutual understandnig that they student will complete all required pre-reqs by matriculation.

Your best bet is to call the admissions department(s) and ask them about your exact situation. You still have time to complete physics over the summer if need be.

i didn't realize this level of neuroticism existed among non-trads too

every course you took with the corresponding semester is listed on your AMCAS. they already have that information. they have no reason to assume you'd spontaneously retake a class now without prompting. also i'm assuming you took both physics 1 and 2 10 years ago so if you were planning on retaking them before med school you would have already been enrolled in one last semester and that would've shown up on your app.

in summary... go live your life and enjoy your accomplishment

Only the DO school from Arkansas pulls stuff like that.

This.

Agreed. The reality is, if you've been accepted, you should do everything you can to make sure you've met their requirements. Also, if you feel like it's a "time sink" or a "financial sink" to take the physics class or whatever, I think you should reconsider, as going to medical school is a time/financial sink-if you can't deal retaking a physics class, I wouldn't say you're cut out for this at all.

I know that when i matriculated, they had a form that I had to fill out listing how I've met all of their requirements, etc etc. So if i were you, i'd do everything i could to make sure it's legit. Being accepted to medical school is a privilege. Make sure you don't lose it.

i don't think i'm being neurotic. the details of the admissions process can be pretty opaque (which is probably why these forums are so popular in the first place). i wasn't sure at what point adcoms look at your transcript. i'm pretty sure i am ok, but non-trads do have to deal with these issues with some schools, especially when the acceptance letter says "CONDITIONAL"

Definitely agree that it's a privilege. As a non-trad/postbacc, living on my own, paying off student loans rather than receiving them, working 2 jobs to pay for coursework, applications, rent, etc...trust me, I don't think it's a time or financial sink...and I'm not reconsidering 😉

Repeating what others have said, just call them up and ask or send an email regarding the pre-reqs you're worried about.

Oh and congrats on an acceptance. You owe me wings 😉.

If you were sent an unconditional acceptance letter, you do not need to complete any additional coursework.

They have all your courses and grades in front if them when they make the decision. If your prior coursework were not acceptable, you would not have been admitted, or you would have been admitted with specific conditions, all of which would be included in your letter. If, for some reason, your admission was conditional, but no particular conditions were specified, then they just want you to complete the classes in which you are currently enrolled.

If none of those things apply, it would be reasonable to call and ask.
