I think you should be fine. I haven't heard of too many people getting rejected after their interview. The Dean in Gainesville has said that in the interview they are looking for the student to have a command of the English language, satisfactory interpersonal skills, and motivation for pharmacy. So as long as you are ok in those areas I would think you would be ok! Good luck
I think i did pretty good in interview.. i should find out by end of next week if i am accepted or not.. i will post here when i get my letter.... i m really nervous n stressed out though.. can't wait to find out... 🙂.. but if i get in i will be definately going to uf orlando campus...yeaaaaaaaaah
Everyone that gets their acceptance letters post here!!! I got mine today, I interviewed t my first choice campus, Orlando, on March 2nd!!!!! UF COP here I come! 🙂
congrats!!!!! Hope you can make it to either one of the Q&A sessions. No doubt you'll love pharm school in Orlando! (so long as you don't drive I4 to school. 😉 )

😎 How's the cost for those two? I need to move out of Cocoa to get closer to school this summer. I'm so sick of this hour+ commute. Need to find a 1 bedroom though... I've never had much luck with roommates.

They are both REALLY nice complexes but not very affordable in my opinion for 1 bedrooms. I am living with 2 other 1PD girls and the rent is going to be around 1200 a month so like $400 each.
www.villatuscanyapts.com 1 bedrooms $845-$875
www.hawthornegrovesapts.com 1 bedroom $830
However, Vizcaya Lakes which is literally around the corner is really affordable and still nice. I think one bedrooms were like $585 but I'm not totally sure.
Hope this info helps! The current students I talked to at my interview suggested to live in this area and I really liked it when I've been down there. The mall and all sorts of stores are super close!
I have been accepted to orlando campus.. even though i had chosen gainesville for my first choice. since orlando campus has satellite program.. i am a lil worried abt it. i think i would be more comfortable w/ regular program, where u go to class and attend lectures, u see ur prof. and meet ur class mates... anyway the question is.. u r already an undergrand @ uf and i think u would have been accepted to ur any 1st choice campus.. then y did u choose orlando campus over gainsville?
hey ethyl .. do u already attend UF Orlando campus? or u will be starting in fall?...🙂

I'm about to finish my 1PD year in a couple weeks at the Orlando campus. I'll be helping out on the Q&A next Friday. Trust me when I say you'll be thankful that you got into Orlando instead of Gainesville. You get to know almost everybody's name in class and it feels like people are out to help each other more. The class is so large in Gainesville that people really don't get to know each other... at least not like the satellite campuses. There's also no parking problems at the Orlando campus compared to Gainesville 😉 ... no need for parking passes and there's always a spot open near the entrance.
Attending lectures is a novelty that wears off after a week or two of your first semester. When the camera pans around nowadays, all we'll see are maybe 5-10 people in class.... when there should be ~100. Gainesvillers end up watching the lectures online like the rest of us because it's so convenient.
Dr2011 are you a UCF grad or just happen to live in the orlando area? Just asking because i'm at UCF right now and going to the UF Orlando campus in the fall. Trying to get to know some class mates before i start 🙂

There are several reasons for leaving Gainesville- basically it's nice, but not for me! Reasons why: smaller class sizes, i love online classes (i've had several online classes while here at UF), and my fiance lives in Orlando. I work in a pharmacy here in Gainesville were the 2PD students rotate through and all of them said that the friends they have at distance campuses enjoy school more and they wish they had done a distance site too! So all in all it seemed like the best way to go! I am really looking forward to it! I met 2 other 1PD girls that I will be living with in the Fall! Looking forward to meeting all of you other soon to be 1PD's too! 😀
If any of you are on Facebook I have made a group for the Orlando Campus

Somewhere between Alfred E. Newman, Anthony Micheal Hall, and Doogie Howser <shudders>.
got accepted yesterday! 😀 gainesville campus. hope to see all of you there
Now I just need to get CPR certified. BTW - did anyone else know that was a requirement as well?
Yes, I was aware. I looked at UF's Orientation Letter that was sent to last year's income 1PD's (it is still posted on UF's COP website) and saw it listed there. I think it is probably a common requirement for healthcare-related schools.
Do you see also that we have to have our Hepatitis B shots up through the second series before we can get registered for classes this fall? I'd get that started soon since there is a month lag time required between shots.

I think I'll be able to pick you out based on that description. 😱 JUST KIDDING!!! 😉 Looking forward to meeting you soon!

I got mine online. 😳 And it lasts 2 years. 👍Yes, I was aware. I looked at UF's Orientation Letter that was sent to last year's income 1PD's (it is still posted on UF's COP website) and saw it listed there. I think it is probably a common requirement for healthcare-related schools.

Yeah, you need to prove you had chicken pox back in the day or have a varicella vaccine... plus MMR, DTaP and TB test. You also need to have proof of health insurance... which really bit me in the butt because I'm still a poor college student.
Hell, I still haven't gotten my 3rd series of the Hep B shots. I should probably get that done before my 2PD year. 😳

It states in the letter that we can't get our CPR certification online. So maybe they changed the rule this year just like the interviews?
just wondering....I guess no one recieved a rejection letter form UF?......I guess i must have really screwed up the interview🙁 to recieve a rejection letter
I'm sorry, gators14.... It may not make you feel any better, but there are surely others. It's just that they probably don't happen to post on SDN... I realize that is probably little consolation to you...There is always next year. You should apply again--don't give up yet if this is really what you want.

awwwe that bites. Yeah, they must have gotten too many people like me getting it online.
My experience pretty much went like:
"Oh no, little Timmy isn't breathing but he still has a pulse. What do you do? .... *point and click on mouth*"
"Correct!"
"Timmy needs his heart jumped. Where do you put the AED pads? *point and click*"
"Correct! Chargin! ...... CLEAR!!!! *ZAP!*"
Haha...I love the visuals! Yes, it does "bite" that we can't do the certification online.
for the chicken pox thing, i've had them when i was little, just dont remember the exact date. can i make up a date or do i HAVE to get the blood test to prove it? it says "date OR vaccine OR blood test", but i didnt know if you need some kind of documention to back up just saying you've had them.

Before you go out on rotations, you'll have to get titers for each of these. I never got my 3rd Hep B and they made me restart the entire series.
You also have to have a 2-step TB test. Six months into rotations, you have to have another 2-step TB test. Before returning to school for your last 8 weeks, you need yet another TB test.
I got mine for Gainesville campus on Saturday morning, finally relieved🙂
for the CPR certificate, what is the common process to get the certificate? is that you register for the class at RedCross first and then take a test after that, and if you pass the test you will have the certificate? thanks for any help

Yep. They test you during the class and give you your card before you leave.
"I'm trained in CPR, may I help you?"
