I have noticed these numbers vary markedly.

For example XXXCOM

Accepted 200
Enrolled 100

So, what happens to the other 100 who were accepted?

I know some will choose other programs, but surely not all!

Do they get "unaccepted?"

😕

No, they end up somewhere else. Some just don't put the deposit and hence lose their seat.

While it's possible for an acceptance to be revoked, this is rare and usually due to somebody committing some act of fraud during the applicaiton process or failing the criminal background check. I guess failing to meet prereqs is another possibility.

Some people defer acceptance a year and start the next year, but I would say the vast, vast, vast majority of people accepted that do not attend wind up going somewhere else.
