Hey everyone,

I received my acceptance call from ASDOH yesterday afternoon! 😀

Here I had given up, reapplied and was studying madly to retake the DAT. Goes to show, ANYTHING can happen!

I'm so excited I could pass out, but I don't have time. I have to move me, my pets and all my worldly goods across the country in 3 weeks! 😱

So, good luck to everyone still waiting. It ain't over til it's over!

The information packet was sent out today from AZ so I guess I'll get it the first of the week. Yeah, now the financial aid subject is starting to hit home. How will I get all that money?? 😳

Do they have private loan info in your packet? I hope my federal stuff goes thru quick enough. It would suck trying to figure out how to pay tuition myself because my loans weren't in yet!

About FA have you filled out the FASFA yet? I think the timing will have to do with that. But I'm sure ASDOH will speed up your app process or give you more time considering the situation.

They took care of everything gov't and private loans. They offer to take care of the private loans through sallie mae but they said we could choose another lender if we want. We just have to let them know. All i did was fill out the FAFSA and they did the rest. How is the housing plans going? Let me know if you need help on areas to live. A freind of mine just rented a house a few miles from school in a great neighborhood for a really decent price. I will be around tonight and all weekend so don't be afraid to give me a call about anything. I have already met with a few other 2010 students and talk quite often with them. It looks to be a good class so far. Looking forward to meeting.

Luvabully, Don't stress about the financial aid. If you've filled out your FAFSA for this year, then everything will be just fine...you'll be $70k-ish in debt in a couple of months, but they will make sure you get the money.

As a side note klfb80, I didn't think private loans would be in the picture at all this year. I'm pretty sure everything is figured out with federal loans due to new accessibility to PLUS loans. You'll probably have about 8,500 in subsidized stafford, 34,400 in unsubsidized stafford and the difference (including living expenses) will be made up with PLUS loans (fixed 8.5%)

Hey thanks for the encouraging words. FAFSA's done and it's good to know the school helps you out with that stuff. It's a lot different from undergrad I guess!

I'm sure that you are right about this since you have been there done that. I was under the impression that the PLUS loan was a private loan or at least you recieved it from a private source making it private but I really had no idea. I guess private loans would be if you took a loan with citibank or some place liek this. Is this correct? Thanks for the info.

In previous years, we did have to take out private loans through Access Group, but this year we will be able to get PLUS loans that I think are serviced by Sallie Mae just like the Staffords...

The PLUS loans are a lot better deal because they are 8.5% fixed. All of my Dental Access loans are hovering around 9.7% variable....not good!...anyway, good luck guys and I'll see you soon.

congrats!!!! jsut out of curiousity, how did u do on the DAT that made u think u had to take it again and reapply? reason i ask is that i jsut took the DAT and am not happy w/ my score 🙁 any help would be great...i just put up a bulletin about DAT and GPA.. congrats again!

her DAT was 16/16/16, but you have to realize she was also a licensed dental hygienist for about 3 years or something.

the hygienist thing - or other professional experience helps alot in some schools and very little in others. I think that some schools really look more at stats than the other aspects of the person. Sometimes we're "just a number". But fortunately for some of us, there are schools that see the big picture!
