Hey all,

I just checked the mail today and found a nice big acceptance letter from Tufts staring me in the face!!! I'm so excited! I cant wait until next august and get working. I guess the easy part is done, and the hard part is about to begin in a year.

Good luck to everyone!

Did u already have ur interview? I thought people cant get acceptances till december? how was ur stats?

Holy cowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! Excellent stuff!!!!!! You are going to be a dentist!!!!!!!!!!---------------Question, though. I thought Dec 1st was the first date they can tell you. When did you have an interview???

I was on Tufts' waitlist this last admissions cycle (for the 2007 class). They didnt have any room for me this year, so they gave me acceptance for next year.

wooo hoooooooooo!

Great Gooogly Moooogly !!! That is early. I thought there was a gentlemen's agreement to wait till Dec 1st before grantiing acceptances!!!

Oh that is wonderful. I don't even know ya, but I am so happy for you. You must be excited!! Now, go out and celebrate :hardy:

PS
What will you do with your year off? Are you gonna go ahead and apply again to take your chances with other schools or was Tufts your first choice?

thanks critterbug,

I did submit my applications for this year already. If I get interivews this year, I'll probably just go to the ones where I would REALLY like to go. I think UoP is on the top of my list, so if I get acceptance there then I would have a huge decision on my hands.

I was ready to re-take the DAT in Nov, but I guess I won't be needing that anymore! I'll probably just work for a year and make some much needed tuition money.

Time to party!

I could be wrong but I was told UOP does this too. If you are on the waiting list at UOP, they grant you automatic admission for the following year. I could be wrong and it may not be automatic admission but that's great. Congratulations dentaldream. Best of luck to you!!

Dentaldream,

Congrats! That has to be the coolest feeling to know that you have already been accepted!

I was wondering if anybody knew if being on a schools waitlist "helps you" for admission for the next year? Or are you just lumped in with the rest of the applicants? It looks like it helps at Tufts, but does it help anywhere else?

Well done ...Congrats friend!

Interesting!

I've never heard of this? I've heard that dental schools over "accept" candidates during one application cycle and THEN offers those candidates a seat in the next incoming class, but NEVER heard of schools offering seats to candidates that were on the waitlist from the previous application cycle!?

What ever you did or said to Tufts before, you're very fortunate today. I'm very unfamiliar with this approach.

😕

I was also placed on Temple's waitlist and asked them if they offer deferred acceptance to waitlisted students (like how tufts does). They told me that they dont, so I guess Tufts may be one of a few schools that does.

Anyways, I could care less! I'm just glad I'm in, even if it is a year late.

TIGHT WORK !!!! All the best, and I hope to share the feeling you have now in a couple months. (I have applied to Tufts this year) Anyway, Ive read your posts on the forum and know you must be excited. You should be wasted right now. Have a drink for all of us in this forum !!

First off congrats.

Secondly I know of an AS student here at BU who was accepted to Tufts for next year also. He found out in July though.

Bravo! I am happy for you.

Man, this feels like in prison, and you just find out a cell-mate is leaving. The rest of us have to wait!...

Doh!

Although this might be true for some schools, others just lump you in the rest of the applicants. One of my friends who was on the waitlist for class of 2006, did not get in the following year. It sucks so bad, especially since he thought that he was gonna get in for sure.

Thanks for all of the kind words everybody! I cant wait until next year. I know this year is going to go by super slow.

Dakota,

I was also on Temple's waitlist. I was going to re-apply this year and asked them if being a past waitlisted student would give me an edge in the next admissions process. They basically told me that I dont have to go through AADSAS to re-apply, but other than that, I will be treated like everyone else. I dont know the policies of other schools, you can call and ask. Are you currently waitlisted at a school?

Good luck

Dentaldream,

Congrats,   That is such an excellent news. I have never heard of such. But who cares anyway? Getting in means getting in.

Make sure you have anatomy and histology under your belt b4 you start dschool.

Tuft is a good school. Good luck.

Thanks tinker bell,

I dont plan to enroll this year in an anatomy class. But i plan to sit in on the class and try and soak it all up.

Are you currently waitlisted at a school?

Actually no. I am applying for the 2004 cycle for the first time. But with my average to below average DAT scores I can see and alternate future with myself being on a waitlist without acceptance. I was just happy to hear about your situation, because I think it gives hope to others in the same situation.

Congrats Sally,

Good to hear that another Canadian is doing well in the admissions process. Are you planning on applying to any canadian schools. I think I will, but I dont like my chances.

Good luck!

Dentaldream,

Mostly no , I don't think I have a great chance in Canada as you know the situation here, it is almost impossible to get in !!!

but I haven't desided yet....

Cheers 😉

Hey Dentaldream and Sallyubc,

Congratulations on your acceptances!!! Especially them being a year a way, giving you a chance to relax and enjoy your year off.

I am Canadian as well attending UPitt, and I'm always happy to see others breaking free from Canadian limitations when it comes to professional education.

Good luck!!

Congrats on your acceptance into Tufts. I can't even imagine how that must have felt when you got that letter.

Beware of the gunner you will be attending with (Tufts thread).

Thanks le fort guy

I'll try and steer clear of that guy! Yeah, it felt very relieving to find out the good news. It felt like 2 grand pianos were lifted off my back.

Good luck to you
