Accepting offers from two schools?

Hi guys,

First, let me start by saying happy new year to y'all! I was fortunate enough to receive several acceptances on Dec 1st, and although I sent the required documents to my primary choice, the documents seem to be lost in the mail. The deposit check was sent in an another mail packet, which was received and cashed in, but the other packet with other documents is lost. USPS said that they cannot do anything to track the lost packet, and the admissions office of the school has been closed for two weeks. The office is supposed to reopen tomorrow, which is the due date. So basically I'm stuck not knowing if I can still reserve my seat.

In this case, would it be wise to reserve my seat at another school just in case to be safe? Would it create any issues?

Sucks that they lost it! You can reserve your seat at another school, which imo would be smart to do in this case. When April 1st 2018 comes around, you will need to make a final decision between your two schools (assuming the primary choice works out for you) and the only thing you'll have lost is your deposit at the second school. If they cashed a deposit check and didn't save a spot for you, you'd probably have a court case.

You wouldn’t happen to be talking about UNC would you? If so, from what I heard they are flexible on that date, specially if you contact them to let them know what’s going on (as I’m sure most schools would be). Also most schools go by mailed date rather than received.

Also keep in mind that 1. they already cashed your check so they assume you’ll be attending and 2. they know they’ve been closed for two weeks so if something went wrong they will probably be accomadating. Personally I wouldn’t pay another deposit, but that’s just me.

Yeah I was talking about UNC! Did you accept you offer from UNC?

When I sent my deposit check to my school of choice, it got lost in the mail around this time lol. I called the school and the person I spoke with was very nice about it. I sent another check. The old check arrived in like April (?) and they gave it back to me. I'm sure they'll understand. They want you to attend. They're not going to take it away from you because of a USPS error.
