I was given X amount of unsubsidized loans. I don't need all of X. Is it possible to accept, say, .6X? This may sound stupid but I don't wanna go and click "accept financial aid award" if I have to accept the whole shebang.

Yes. Your financial aid award letter from your school should definitely have instructions on how to accept a portion of your award. For my school, we just cross out the max amount, write in what we want to accept, sign it, and send it in. If the award letter doesn't mention instructions for doing this, call your school's financial aid office tomorrow. You absolutely do not have to accept the whole amount.
