Access to OptomCAS

Hi, guys! So the 2013-2014 OptomCas does not open until July 1st. I was talking to my medical and dental friends and they told me that on their centralized apps, they were able to create accounts and view the apps before they opened. I guess they were able to view the app, but they just couldn't submit it yet. Is this possible with the optometry applications? Can I just view the application prior to the "opening?"

If not, can someone who has previously applied give me insight into what I need for the apps? Do they ask any essay type questions besides what you submit for your personal statement? Also, people have told me that sending transcripts take the longest to process. I know this is a weird question, but can I send in my transcripts now or do I have to wait until I have an account set up?

Sorry for all the questions. I guess I'm just starting to get a little bit anxious. haha. Any insight you guys could provide will be helpful!

I don't believe you can access OptomCAS until it opens up in July. Their website also states they won't be accepting any transcripts until OptomCAS is open. I would wait until the last week of June to contact your school and file a transcript request. That way the school's 2-3(varies) processing day plus mailing should push it into July.

Even if they have your transcripts before you submit your application, they don't verify the information until your application is submitted and that itself can take 1-2 weeks.

Don't feel anxious, if you're submitting in July/August that's really early! You will be fine

Hm, I filled out info ~May before they closed it down for this upcoming cycle. Does anyone know if it will carry over? :/

If u submit it will carry over...if u did not submit it will not carry over

Wait until the application is actually available to request transcripts. There is a form you are supposed to send with your transcript request form that has all of your Optomcas info. You don't have to use the form, but I think your transcripts get processed a lot faster if you do.
