I had 3 LORs that strengthened my application for last cycle (despite being rejected). I was looking to see if there was anyway I can access these LORs, perhaps calling AMCAS?

These letters were handwritten from few doctors overseas and I would have a hard time getting in contact with them at this point. If they were hardcopies, would AMCAS have them stored because I don't see them simply throwing them away.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

It's my understanding that if you applied last cycle amcas will be able to carry over everything in your application except your LOR. But if your using a program like interfolio or virtual evals they save them for you. Otherwise I think you may have to ask them again. I'd call amcas and ask

Presumably these are handwritten because you did work in a rural clinic in a developing nation, where the docs don't have access to computers or typewriters, but they do have access to post offices?

One handwritten letter from a doctor overseas who has excellent English might possibly add some spice to an app, but there's no way a reviewer is going to read more than one handwritten letter. The 2nd and 3rd letters add nothing to your appeal as a med school candidate.

I hope you also have letters from 2-3 US faculty. If not, that could be one reason you didn't do well. The usual reasons: low stats, late app, unprofessional presentation.

Edit: meanwhile, nothing is kept on paper. Your letters get scanned for forwarding to schools.

Best of luck to you.

The AMCAS WILL NOT carry over any letters from previous cycles. I know bc I called and asked. I guess this is why people use Interfolio and such services. I guess ill be doing that next time :/ Ohh well. Its intended to keep you active with your mentors
