Accidental Interview Invite

Hi all,

This morning when I checked my email, I was so happy to see an interview invite to a dental school. I was literally jumping for joy, texted my friends--msged them on AIM...sharing the good news.

Then, sadly enough 4 minutes later I see a new email saying to please disregard the previous email and that it was a system error.

I need a hug. 🙁

Something similar to that happened to me too! I called ASDOH to check about my application, and the lady told me they sent me an interview invite in the mail a few days ago I should be getting it soon. I was extremly excited, and a couple days later I get a rejection from them in the mail instead..I couldn't believe it!

Wow, that sucks. That's strange though because I thought ASDOH sends out snail mail rejections and email interview invites. I wonder why she would have said they sent it in the mail. Either way, these situations are BOO!

that's mean, if i got an interview, i would notify way more people in 4 minutes. Even people who are fighting in baghdad would know that iwantVCUdental has an interview

I was not trying to be mean. If you have more interviews then there is nothing to worry about even though it still sucks. The waiting game and interview season are stressful as it is, no need to add more depression and anxiety.

On a side note, informing family and close friends about an interview invite sounds very reasonable. But what do you get out of updating EVERYONE you know? An acceptance would be fine in that scenario but an interview invite??

I forgot to mention this last time. Yes your situation is terrible, but I heard a worse case. So imagine you got into your dream school, then you went on ahead and declined the other three dental school offers that you have; Only to found out a month later that your dream school thought you were a different applicant this whole time with the same name. So they accidentally accepted you to their program.

Yes, so in the end not only did that person decline other three WELL-ESTABLISHED programs, on top of that, he has to re-apply again!!! I mean it is that person's fault for not following up with the PAPERWORK he's supposed to have received in a week, but still... I would be soooooo crushed even till today.
