Accidently took a course twice, but only got 3 hour credit, does it go on AMCAS and TMDSAS twice?

Hi so I took a dual credit class for English back in high school and during sophomore year I accidently took the class over ( registered for the wring class) and got an A in it. I got an A both times and so even though my transcript and grade summaries count it as only 1 credit, so three hours, I am not sure if I am suppose to put it down on AMCAS or TMDSAS. Does anyone have any knowledge about this. I just sent off my transcripts and never asked before sending them off. I don't want to confuse anyone, plus the extra grade bumps me a little..but again I am not sure if it counts.

Thanks and God Bless!

Yes they should be on there if they are on your transcripts.

ok they are both on there it looks like this
ENGLISH COMP HOURS ATTEMPTED : 3 HOURS EARNED: 3 GRADE: A
ENGLISH COMP HOURS ATTEMPTED 3 HOURS EARNED 0 GRADE: A

what do you think? Will it be included? And should I put the course and the grade down twice?

Put them both down. They both count.

If the hours were attempted, I believe so. This is an odd situation though because 0 hours were earned the second time... @gonnif

Edit: my tag no worky

its actually worse than I thought
I am so sorry the transcript actually looks like this
GRADE A:-- english fall 2012
ATT: 0
EARN:0
GRADE POINTS:0
GPA: 0

GRADE A:--english spring 2015
ATT:3
EARN:3
GRADE POINTS:12
GPA: 4.0

on my grade report it says I took 5 classes, on my transcript it says I took 5 classes, for some reason the cc took away the points I earned from the first attempt because I ( accidently) repeated the course. Like I took it three years apart too, so I want to include it but I am not sure and I want to submit my TMDSAS/AMCAS today.

OK SO THIS IS WHAT I GOT STRAIGHT FROM THE TMDSAS WEBSITE. I am kind of scared because towards the bottom it really hammers down on transcript/course reporting discrepancies.

COLLEGE COURSEWORK

*You may make revisions to this section any time during the application process. You will be able to add planned/future coursework.*

BEFORE YOU START
Request an official transcript from each college/university you have attended to use as a reference for completing the [College Coursework] section.

You will list all coursework ever enrolled in at every US, US Territorial, or Canadian college. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Courses that have been repeated
  • Courses that you failed, regardless of whether they have been repeated
  • Courses you took in high school for college credit that appear on a college transcript
  • Courses taken at American colleges overseas
It is helpful if you enter courses in the same order in which they are listed on your official transcript.

ENTERING COURSEWORK DETAILS
After listing all colleges you have attended and plan to attend in the [Colleges Attended] section, you will list all terms you have taken coursework and plan to take coursework in the [Terms Attended] section.

Be sure to list future/planned coursework (indicate "Not Yet Reported" as the grade for planned coursework). If you are unsure what courses you will be taking, add a placeholder course so that you can enter the courses you have registered to take at a later date (e.g. "Course to be determined").

All courses that appear on your official transcript (s) and for which a grade and credit was ever assigned will be included in the TMDSAS GPA calculations, even if they are not included in the GPA calculations of the transcript-issuing school. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Courses that have been repeated
  • Courses that you failed, regardless of whether they have been repeated
  • Courses you took in high school for college credit that appear on a college transcript
  • Courses taken at American colleges overseas
TMDSAS verifies your self-reported courses against your official transcript(s) and will report any discrepancies to your selected institutions. TMDSAS does not enter courses for you. TMDSAS will contact you and return your application for corrections or explanations if it identifies a significant number of course discrepancies or omissions. Failure to properly enter all course information and to make corrections as requested may result in processing delays and may jeopardize your chances for admission.

Not to be a dick, but how do you accidentally take the same class twice? Why didn't you drop it after realizing you've already taken it? Or did you not realize it was the same class until you were entering transcript info on your apps....?

Seems like you would just mark as a repeat. Would look strange to have repeated an A but hopefully they don't look that closely haha

No its ok, you're fine. The course name changed from when I was in high school and when I wanted to transfer schools I was told I needed to take English Comp 1301, not realizing it was the same "english comp 1" course I took a few years back. I literally did not realize it was a retake until today 🙁

Oh wow. That's unfortunate. I wouldn't worry about the last bit from the tmdsas guidelines - just list as a repeat (because it technically is) and you should be fine!
